Named for the circular three-mile-long Grand Boulevard around which the town is centered, Corona is a booming Los Angeles suburb tucked into the Santa Ana River Canyon and surrounded by both small towns and rural, unincorporated areas.It began as the town of South Riverside, incorporated in 1886 by a citrus growers' organization and full of lemon groves and dairy farms. Ten years later, the town was renamed Corona after the circular Grand Boulevard. For decades it has been famous for its upscale communities and home to several celebrities.
Corona has a warm Mediterranean climate with average summer highs in the low nineties and warm winter days with about a foot of precipitation each year, mostly in the late winter and early spring. The robust economy has been strengthened by its freeway connections and diversified by the many former Orange County companies which have relocated to the area. The largest employer by far is the Corona-Norco Unified School District, but Corona Regional Medical Center, Watson Pharmaceuticals, and Kaiser Permanente are also in the top five. World-famous guitar manufacturer Fender is headquartered here as well.
This city of over 150,000 has plenty of entertainment options; several public parks, golf courses, family farms, amusement parks, and dozens of museums and educational activities can all be enjoyed year-round. Top draws include Tom's Farms with farm-fresh produce, restaurants, craft fairs, live music, and family activities, and the Fender Museum with exhibits, workshops, and music events and festivals. Highly connected to the surrounding areas yet just remote enough to enjoy a stunning mountain backdrop, Corona is the ideal city in which to work, live, and play.
